首付

“首付”就是“首先支付的款项”，在英语中用down payment来表达，其中down指分期付款“第一期的”，是个形容词，而payment指“付款”，合起来就是我们所说的“首付”。

Tom is still not able to make the down payment on the house.

汤姆还没有能力支付房子的首付。

首付款是多少?

B:30% of the total.

全款的30%。

余额

转(账)

这里的“转”不是“转弯”的意思，所以不能直译为turn，其意思是“转移”，要用transfer。

Mr.Smith transferred 5000 yuan into my account.

史密斯先生将5000元钱转到了我的账上。

A:I'd like to transfer $1000 to my savings account.

我想转1000美元到我的储蓄账户中。

strapped /stræpt/

手头紧

“手头紧”与hand“手”和head“头”都没有关系，它的意思是“拮据的，缺钱的”，英语中可以用strapped来表示。

Tom was fired and he's a bit strapped.

汤姆被解雇了，现在手头有点紧。

A:Could you lend me 200 yuan?I'm strapped recently.

你能借我200块钱吗?我最近手头很紧。

B:No problem.

没问题。

in low water也可以表示“拮据”

或者直接说：

I'm short of money recently.

亏损

想直译“亏损”可不容易，它实际的意思与“赤字”差不多，都指支出大于收入，所以可以用in the red来表示。

Mr.Smith's company is in the red.

史密斯先生的公司亏损了。

对话

A:How is your company?

你的公司怎么样?

B:Unfortunately,we're in the red now.

很不幸，现在正亏损呢。

此外，in deficit /ˈdefɪsɪt/ 也可以指“亏损”

而in the black则可以表示“盈利，有盈余”。
