“You are the shit！”竟然不是骂人？

今天给大家介绍的是一个我们既熟悉又陌生的单词——shit。为什么说我们对这个单词十分熟悉呢?因为它在英剧、美剧和国外电影中出现的频率是如此之高;至于为何我们又对它陌生呢，那是因为shit的意思又不仅仅局限于我们常所说的“翔(狗屎)”，它还有好多其他我们不是那么了解的用法。需要注意的是以下所有用法都不建议在正式场合使用，大多数都是在和朋友交谈时才会出现。

一、You are the shit

当你的朋友对你说："You are the shit !” 千万别急着生气，对方的意思可能是“你屌爆了!你太牛B了!”

You are the sun, the moon, the stars… and all that other good shit.

你是太阳，是月亮，是星星……和所有其他厉害的东西。

二、它既可以表示可怕的、极讨厌的，也可以表示极好的

That movie was nothing but a shit!

这部电影就是彻彻底底的烂片!

注意：当shit前加有定冠词the的话，它的意思就会发生180°大转弯，表示“极好的，好中之好(Best of the Best)”，千万要记住!

That movie was the shit!

那部电影真是一部好片啊!

三、表示处于非常糟糕的境地

A：“That sounds horrible!”

A：“这听起来太可怕了!”

B：“Yeah, I was walking up shit creek.“

B：“是的，我太不幸了。”

我们用shit来表示“处于非常糟糕的境地”时，它就等同于trouble, difficulty, dilemma和tough situation等词。

In a challenging or troublesome situation, especially one that cannot be easily resolved.

处于有挑战性或麻烦的情况下，尤指不能轻易解决的情况

例：

I have no savings, so if I get fired from my job, I'll be up shit creek without a paddle.

我没有存款，所以如果我被解雇了，我就会陷入困境。

Shouldn't we stop for gas? We'll be up shit creek if the car dies on that desolate road ahead.

我们是不是应该停下来加油?如果汽车在前面那条荒凉的路上没油了，我们就麻烦了。

四、表达惊讶、沮丧的心情

我们在影视中常常会见到“(Holy) shit!”这样的表达方式，它一般表示“天呐!”，透露出一种惊讶和沮丧的心情，较之“oh my god/goddness(OMG)”程度更深。

Holy shit! I did have no idea why I failed the exam.

我勒个去!我也搞不明白我为什么没通过这次考试。

而在电子竞技游戏DOTA(刀塔)中，达成“超越神的杀戮”这一成就，即连杀10名敌人，你便会从耳机里听到系统传出的“Holy shit”的声音。但这并不是“超越神的杀戮”的英译，而是表示一种惊讶。

五、表示酩酊大醉

除了drunk以外，我们通常还可以用“shit-faced”表示某某某“酩酊大醉，烂醉如泥”，后者更趋向于口语化。

George met up with the guys at a local bar and proceeded to get shit-faced.

乔治和伙计们在当地一家酒吧碰面，就接着喝得恍恍惚惚了。

六、表示一点好运都没有

shit表示“点背，一点好运都没有”时，常用词组“shit out of luck”来表达。

A：“Oh no, the airliner is late!”

A：“噢不，我们的航班晚点了!”

B：“Damn, we're shit out of luck!”

B：“该死，我们真不走运!”

七、形容不是很聪明的人

用shit形容某人不是很聪明(很蠢)的话，我们常常使用“dumb shit或者shit for brains!”这样的表达方式。

Dumb shit! You have been cheated by her for three times!

愚蠢!她这已经是第三次骗你了!

八、表示不相信，扯淡

shit表示某人对某事“不相信，扯淡”的时候，我们常用“bullshit”来表达。

A：“I have three girlfriends.”

A：“我有三个女朋友.”

B：“Bullshit!”

B：“扯淡!”

九、闲聊/不是讲什么重要事情

用shit来表达在闲聊，讲一些琐碎小事的时候，我们常常使用“shooting the shit”来表示。

A：“What were you guys talking about?”

A：“你们在聊什么?”

B：“Oh, we were just shooting the shit.”

B：“噢，我们只是在吹牛皮。”

十、Give a shit about

用shit表示对某事物“在乎，在意;关心”时，我们常常用“give a shit about sth”;那么表示“不在乎，不在意;不关心”的话，我们自然就会用“don't/doesn't/didn't give a shit about sth”了。

You are so obsessed with your future that you completely forget about everyone that you are supposed to give a shit about.

你成天只想着你的未来却对那些你本该在乎的人漠不关心。

十一、Shit happens

俚语“Shit happens“非常有名，出自于电影《阿甘正传》，阿甘在跑步时踩到shit，旁边一位失意的商人问他对此事的看法，阿甘表情轻松地说：“Shit happens.”，意思也就是“人生偶尔会有不顺心的事发生，不必太在意”。

Life happens, shit happens, and it happens a lot, to a lot of people.
