South Korea’s Unification Ministry says North Korea has accepted its offer to attend high level talks next week. Their acceptance came through a cross-border hotline that was reactivated two days ago. The two sides are expected to discuss key issues, including North Korea’s possible participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.

The US says it’s suspending almost all security assistance to Pakistan because it isn’t doing enough to combat Islamic militant groups. The State Department said the freeze would remain in place until Islamabad took action against the Haqqani network and the Afghan Taliban.
