President Trump has sent his budget to the U.S congress for approval, including big increases in military spending and cuts to social and environmental programs. The proposals raised the defense budget to nearly 750 billion dollars, including a major boost to spending on nuclear weapons. He is also planning to cut spending on the U.S environmental protection agency by more than a quarter.

Turkey says its military has struck more than 700 Syrian government targets, following an attack on Turkey's troops in Syria. The defense ministry in Ankara said it is responding to the death of five of its soldiers in Idlib province, where Syria is fighting rebels.
