第一、掌握定语从句。The football team has a new play that they are keeping as an ace in the hole for the big game. 这个句子是含有一个定语从句的复合句。主句是the football team has a new play，从句是由that引导的they are keeping as an ace in the hole for the big game。这个句子中的先行词是paly，它在定语从句中做keep的宾语，即：They are keeping the new play as an ace in the hole for the big game. 那么先行词是物，在定语从句中又做宾语，我们就要选择关系代词。指代物的关系代词有2个：which, that。由于先行词play在本句中是作宾语，则只能用that，不能用which。其实，that在这个句子中是可以省略的。
