[1] Hello everybody. My name is Stone. I come from Guangdong province in China.;[1] 嗨,大家好。 我的名字叫石头,我来自 中国广东。
I am very happy to come here to study with you.;我很高兴来这里和你们一 起念书。
[2] When I arrived at this school three days ago, I fell in love with it.;[2] 当我三天前来到这个 学校时,我就喜欢上它了
It is so beautiful and exciting here, and everyone is kind to me especially Kim.;这里是那么美丽,那么振 奋人心,这里的每个人都 对我很亲切,特别是Kim 老师。
This class feels just like one big family to me.;而这个班集体对我来说就 像一个大家庭。

[1] A dog owner claimed that his pet, when given money,;[1] 一只狗的主人声称如 果给他的狗一些钱的话,
would go to the news stall『售报亭』 to buy a paper.;它就会跑到售报亭去买一 份报纸回来。
His friend insisted on [坚持]a demonstration [演示]and handed the dog some money.;他的朋友坚持要试验一下 于是就给了那只狗一些钱
The dog trotted off [小步跑开],but an hour later he had still not returnedwith the paper;狗叼着钱一溜烟儿地跑掉 了。可是过了一个小时, 狗还没有把报纸买回来。
[2] "How much did you give him?" asked the owner.;[2]"你给了他多少钱?" 狗的主人问。
[3] "Five dollars.";[3]"五块。"

(1)藏龙卧虎;藏龙卧虎(cang long wo hu):比喻潜藏着各种人才

(2)九死一生 A Narrow Escape From Death;九死一生 (jiu si yi sheng):形容经历极大 的危险,侥幸活下来。

(3)落井下石 To Hit A Person When He Is Down;落井下石:比喻乘人危难 的时候,加以打击或陷害

my girlfriend is breaking up with me and I have to find a new place to live.;现在女朋友又和我分手, 我不得不另外找地方住。

B: I know, and I kind of hate to bring this up now,;你知道其实我打心眼里不 想在这时候提起这事
but I really need that one hundred dollars you borrowed from me last month.;但是我现在真的很需要你 上个月从我这里借的那一 百美金。

(4)捷足先登 The Swift-Footed Arrive First;捷足先登 (jie zu xian deng):行动迅速的人先 得到所求的东西,或先达 到目的。

(5)如鱼得水 Feel like A Fish In Water;如鱼得水 (ru yu de shui):比喻得到跟自己 志同道合的人或适合于自 己发展的环境。

第四节:形容词大战 -- 学会批评与抱怨的形 容词!;
1.angry:;filled with anger 发怒的;愤怒的
* There is nothing worse than having to face an angry wife.;没有什么比不得不面对一 个愤怒的妻子更糟糕了。
* I was angry with him for keeping me waiting so long.;他让我等了这么久,我真 的生他的气了。
2.awful:;very bad; dreadful 很坏的;糟透的
* I'm sorry to be so short-tempered but I have an awful headache;我很抱歉脾气这么坏, 但是我头疼得要命。
* The film was awful.; 那部电影真是糟透了。
3.boring:;not interesting in any way 无趣的;无聊的
* There is no way I am sitting through another boring meeting;要我再次坐着开这种无聊 的会议绝不可能。
* He is about the most boring person I've ever met.;他可能是我见过的最无趣 的人了.
4.careless:;not taking care; inattentive 粗心的;疏忽的
* My son could get better grades if he wasn't so careless.;如果我儿子不是粗心的话 他可以得更高的分数。
* He's a very careless driver: he never thinks about what he's doing.;他是一个粗心大意的驾驶 员,从来也不考虑自己在 做什么。
5.cunning:;clever at deceiving people 狡猾的;狡诈的; 善于欺骗的

6.depressing:;make one feel depressed 令人忧愁的;令人沮丧的

7.gloomy:;sad; depressed 阴沉的;阴暗的; 忧愁的;沮丧的

9.impatient:;not patient; unable to wait for something 不耐烦的;无耐性的

* Don't be impatient! The bus will be here soon.;别那么不耐烦!公共汽车 马上就来了。
10.inconsiderate:;not considerate; thou- ghtless; not thinking of other people 不体贴人的,考虑不周的

* He's often inconsiderate to his family.;他常常不体谅他的家人.
11.indifferent:;not interested in; not caring about or noticing不感兴趣的;不 关心的;冷淡的

12.jealous:;want to get what someone else has; envious 嫉羡的;嫉妒的

16.selfish:;thinking first of one's own needs witho- ut concern for others 自私的;不顾他人的

17.stubborn:;determined not to give way; strong-willed; obstinate 倔强的;固执的;顽固的

18.unfortunate:;not fortunate; unlucky 不幸的;倒霉的
