A: If we could only ask Bill to work on this project.
B: Forget it! He quit the office two weeks ago.
A: But he might be interested in this one. Furthermore, he's very knowledgeable in this matter.
B: I said he's OUT. I don't want to talk about him any more!
A: 但愿我们能请比尔参与这个计划。
B: 别提了！两星期前他辞职了。
A: 不过也许他对这个很感兴趣。 再说，这方面他懂得很多。

重点解说：
★ If we could only ~「但愿我们能~」，属于假设法现在式，only在此用于强调。类似用法如: If I could only speak Spanish, I would go to South America.「倘若我能说西班牙语，我将前往南美洲。」
★ work on ~「着手~」
★ Forget (about) it!一语有三种用法，在此用来拒绝对方的提议，相当于中文的「别提了」或「休想」。另一种用法是请对方不要担心或在意某事，如A: Thank you so much for helping me.「多谢你的帮忙。」B: Oh, forget about it!「喔，不必在意。」还有一种用法是不想再提起某一话题，如A: What did you say?「你说什么？」B: Forget it!「算了！」
