1. growl: （狗）嗥叫。

2. treat: 这里指的是dog treat（狗小食），给狗作为奖励的食物。treat作为名词，可以表示“款待，请客”，例如：This is my treat.（这次由我请客。）

3. anaphylactic shock: 过敏性休克。

4.put somebody down: 杀死，杀掉（爱畜）。例：The donkey broke a leg in the fall and had to be put down.（这头驴子跌断了一条腿，不得不杀掉。）

5. canine: 犬，狗。

6.leper: 麻风病患者。

7. practiced: 老练的。看一下例子：

After a couple of minutes you feel you've known him forever, but it may be practiced glad-handing on his part.

8. do somebody justice: 公平地评判；公平地对待。例如：To do her justice, she is a good teacher.（说句公道话，她是位好老师。）
