北京中医药大学创建于1956年，是中华人民共和国最早成立的高等中医院校之一，是唯一所进人国家“211工程”建设的高等中医药院校,2000年7月31日，北京中医药大学成为直属国家教育部管理的重点大学。

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 1956 the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is one of the earliest established traditional Chinese medical institutions of higher learning in the People's Republic of China. It is the only traditional Chinese medical higher learning institution that has a place in the“Project 211”for national development. On July 31 st，2000，the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine became a priority university directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

学校现设有基础医学院、中药学院、针灸学院、管理学院、护理学院、国际学院 远程教育学院、继续教育学院、临床医学院、文法系、台港澳中医学部等教学机构。

学校致力于构建面向新世纪的以高层次教育为主体的人才培养体系目前设有中医学、中药学、制药工程、针灸推拿学、公共事业管理(卫生事业管理)、工商管理(中药企业管理)、护理学、英语(医学),法学(医药卫生)9个专业。其中中医学七年制含科科研方向、针推对外交流方向、中西医结合方向等9个培养方向班分别与南开大学、清华大学、北京,师范大学和中日友好医院等单位联合培养

The university is striving to build a professional training system，emphasizing on high-level education ready for the'new century. There are 9 majors in the university，namely，Chinese Medicine，Chinese Materia Medica，Pharmaceutical Engineering Acupuncture Moxibustion&Tuina，Public Industry Management(Health Industry Management)，Business Administration(Chinese Herba) Medicine Business Management)，Traditional Chinese Nursing，Medical English and Law(related to medicine)，among which the 7-year program of the Chinese Medicine major，includes 9 training classes geared towards different directions such as traditional Chinese clinical medicine clinical research，integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine，acupuncture and tuina oriented towards international exchange，etc. These majors for different purposes are jointly trained with institutions such as the Nankai University，Tsinghua University，University of International Business and Economics，Beijing Normal University，and Sino-Japan Friendship Haspital.

截止2003年9月，学校各类在校生达到16160名，其中本专科生5950名，硕士研究生688名 博士研究生356名，来自41个国家和地区的留学生758名，台港澳学生416名，远程教育学员4897名，继续教育学员3095名。该校有高级职称专职教师岗位600个，其中博一士生导师122人，长江学者奖励计划特聘教授人人事一部“百千万人才上程”人，国家有突出贡献的中青年专家8人，享受政府特殊津贴100人。

Up to September 2003，there are a total of 16160 students on the campus，among which 5950 are undergraduates and vocational training students，688 master's degree candidates，356 doctorate degree candidates，758 foreign students from 41 countries and regions，416 students from Taiwan，Hong Kong，and Macao，4897 distance education students and 3095continuing education students.The university faculty consists of 600 high-rank professionai posts，among which 122 are Ph .D. instructors，one specialty invited professor of“scholars Cheungkong Scholars Program”，3 included in the“Hundreds Thousands and Ten-Thousands Personnel Project" of the Ministry of Personnel 8 state-grade young experts with outstanding contributions，and 100 experts benefiting from the government's special subsidy.

学校是全国中医药院校中首批建立博士学科点和博士后科研流动站的单位之一，中医学、中药学、中西医结合医学3个一级学科均具有博士学位授予权，并均设有博士后科研工作流动站。学校现有6个国家级重点学科，10个部局级重点学科，3个北京市重点学科，重点学科建设在全国中医药院校中保持领先地位。学校现有教育部重点实验室一个，北京市重点实验室2个，是国家医药管理局重点研究室2个。

The university is among the first batch of traditional Chinese medical institutions to establish the Ph.D. program and the post-doctoral research stations. The 3 first-grade subjects，namely Chinese Medicine，Chinese Materia Medica，and Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine，have the right to grant doctorate degree，so do all the second-grade subjects for master's degree. The university now has 6 state-level subjects，10 ministry-and bureau-level subjects，3 Beijing munici pality-level subjects，with 3 post-doctorate stations in Chinese Medicine. The key subjects of our university are in the leading position among the country's traditional Chinese medical institutions.The university has one key laboratory of the level of the Ministry of Education 2 key laboratories of Beijing municipality level，and 2 key research centers of the level of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

学校是国家理科人才培养基地、国家生命科学与技术人才培养基地，建设有“教育部中药制药与新药开发关键技术工程研究中心、“教育部高等学校中医药现代化网上合作研究中心”，并与北京师范大学共建“国家大学科技园”。

The university is a base for cultivating our country's science and life science professionals. We also have"the Research Center for Key Technology of Chinese Pharmaceuticals and Drug Innovation by the Ministry of Education”，“the Research Cenfier for Web Cooperation in Traditional Chinese Medicine Modernization of the Tertiary Education Institutions"and“the National University of Science&Technology built through jvini efforts the university and the Beijing Normal university”.

北京中医药大学图书馆已形成了一个以中医药文献为主、西医文献为辅、兼容其它学科的藏书体系。现有馆藏书刊55万册，其中馆藏中医药图书1. 2万余种，计18万余册;中医线装书1800余种，共28000册;其中含珍本善本100多种及少量孤本，主要以明清两代刻本为主，许多是医学经典藏书。建校48年来，学校为国家培养各级各类中医药专门人才2万余名，为世界87个国家和地区培养各类中医药人才2342名:近几年来，学校先后与19个国家和港、澳、台地区建立了40个合作项目，与12个国家和地区的大学及学术团体合作 开办了教学分院和医疗机构。

The University Library has already become a system in which literature of Chinese medicine，Western medicine and other branches of sciences is stored. It has a collection of half million books，among which more than 1.2 thousand kinds are traditional Chinese medical books，totaling to 180 thousand volumes. There are more than 1800 kinds of traditional Chinese medical thread一bound books total to 28000 volumes，which include rare editions and classical editions up to kinds，mainly block-printed editions of the Ming and Qing dynasties.In fihe 48 years since the founding of the university it has trained more 20000 traditional Chinese medical professionals of different levels and 2342 students from 87 countries and regions of the world. In recent years，the university has eventually established 40 cooperative projects wish 22 countries and regions. it has cooperated with universities and academic groups of 12 countries and regions in running branch schools and clinics.

学校主办有国家一级学术期刊《北京中医药大学学报》、《北京中医药大学学报(中医临床版)》和《中医教育》杂志，是中医药学术交流的重要园地。

The university publishes state-level，class academic periodicals entitles Journal of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine"，“Journal of the Beijing Universify of Chinese Medicine(Clinical Edition)”and“Traditional Chinese Medicine Education” .They are important windows for traditional Chinese medical academic exchange.

1956年北京中医药大学创建。

1956 The Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was founded.

2000年原北京中医药大学与原北京针灸骨伤学院合并组成新的北京中医药大学。

2000 The former Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the former Beijirr College of Acupuncture，Orthopedics and Traumatology merged into the new Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
