  1.blow up 生气

  A: Connie's husband blew up when she didn't,back home last night.

  甲:康妮昨晚上没回家,她丈夫大发雷霆。

  B: Did she have a quarrel with him?

  乙:她跟他吵架了吗?

  2.Crazy a. 发疯的,发狂的

  A: It really dries me crazy if I have to wait ages to he served in a shop.

  甲:如果在商店里等很长时间才有人来招呼,这会真地使我发疯的。

  B: Yes, that's really maddening.

  乙:是的,这种事是很气人的。

  3.damned a. 该死的,该咒的

  A: How did you hurt your toe?

  甲:你的脚趾是怎么弄伤的?

  B: Some damned fool had left pieces of wood lying about. I kept on tripping over them.

  乙:不知哪个该死的笨蛋把木块丢得满地。我绊了好几跤。

  4.exasperating a. 使人恼怒的

  A: Your habit's really exasperating! Why don't you get rid of it?

  甲:你的习惯实在是太糟了!为什么不改掉呢?

  B: I just prefer reading in bed.

  乙:我就是喜欢躺在床上看书。

  5.furious a. 狂怒的

  A: I get furious when someone interrupts me.

  甲:有人打断我讲话时,我会勃然大怒。

  B: Yes, that sort of thing can he annoying, but you shouldn't let it upset you.

  乙:是的,这种事情会很恼人的,但你不应被这事搞得烦躁。

  6.fury n. 狂怒(的人)

  A: Why did the secretary leave the office in a fury?

  甲:秘书为什么愤然离开了办公室?

  B: The boss fired her.

  7.throw/have a tantrum 愤怒,发脾气

  A: What was going on in the classroom?

  甲:教室里怎么了?

  B: The teacher threw a tantrum in class because no kid could answer the question.

  8.hot-tempered a. 暴躁的,易怒的

  A: John's hot-tempered. No one likes to work with him.

  甲:约翰脾气暴躁。谁都不愿和他一起工作。

  B: But he's a workaholic.

  乙:可他是个工作狂。

  9.hot under the collar 发怒的,气恼的

  A:Don't play jokes on him. He may get hot under the collar.

  甲:别跟他开玩笑。他会发怒的。

  B: Thank you for your advice.

  乙:谢谢你的忠告。

  10.in anger 愤怒地

  A: Don't do something in anger.

  甲:生气时决不能意气用事。

  B: Yeah. You might regret it later.

  乙:对。否则过后会后悔的。

  11.indignant a. 愤怒的

  A: What does the captain think of our suggestion that we should have a few days off?

  B: He's indignant about it.

  乙:他对此十分气愤。

  12.infuriate v. 激怒

  A: Some people are seldom punctual. It really infuriates me.

  B: Yes, that can be infuriating, but you shouldn't let it bother you.

  13.irritating a. 使愤怒的,气人的

  A: I wonder why your neighbor has his radio turned up so loud.

  甲:我不明白你的邻居为什么把收音机的音量开得这么大。

  B: It's like this every night. It's really irritating, but you'll get used to it soon.

  乙:每天晚上都这样。真烦人。不过你很快就会习惯的。

  14.make sb.'s blood boil 使某人十分气愤

  A: The way they treat beggars really makes my blood boil.

  甲:他们对待乞丐的方式真令我十分气愤。

  B: You seem to sympathize with the poor.

  乙:你好像同情穷人。

  15.outrage n./v. 愤怒

  A: Why are those people shouting ire front of the court?

  甲:那些人为什么在法院前叫喊?

  B: They are outraged at the idea of the murderer being released.

  乙:他们对于释放杀人犯的想法极为愤慨。

  16.pissed a. 厌烦的,恼火的

  A: The manager's pissed at us.

  甲:经理对我们很恼火。

  B: But we haven't done anything to offend him.

  乙:可我们并没做什么使他生气的事。

  17.see red 气愤,生气,愤怒

  A: Why did you accuse that man?

  甲:你为什么控告那人?

  B: The way he treated his adopted child just made me see red.

  乙:他对待养子的方式令我十分气愤。

  18.tick off 使生气。使恼火

  A: Her rudeness really ticked me off.

  甲:她的无礼实在是令我恼火。

  B: Her parents should have told her to mind her manners.

  乙:她父母早就应该告诉她讲礼貌。
