Eric: Good morning Sabrina. How are you today?

Sabrina: I'm fine but my computer is on the fritz again.

Eric: Oh - I thought that the help desk had fixed that yesterday?

Sabrina: Yeah so did I. They told me that it was fixed but now it has a new bug.

1) Fritz: slang word for something that is broken or not working properly
Fritz: 描述某物坏掉了或出现故障时的不正式说法
ex:My alarm clock is on the fritz and that is why I am late to work again.

2) Help Desk: a department in a company that can help you with any computer or printing problems

ex:The help desk staff in our company are always stressed out because the computers are old.

3) Bug: a problem with a computer or computer software

4) GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out. This is an old saying in computer programming. Computers can only do what you tell them and if you tell them the wrong thing, they will do the wrong thing.

The personal computer is one of the greatest tools ever invented by man and almost everyone in a company these days will need to be able to use one to do their job properly. Because computers are so important and expensive, most companies have policies about their use.

Most companies are very careful about viruses these days. If you use floppy discs from others, you should always use a virus scanner before you put the disc in your computer.

If the company gives you a password for your computer, you should not write it down on a piece of paper. Try to remember it instead.
