1. Do elderly people use the Internet very much? 老年人用互联网的多吗?
Well, it depends on old people, I mean their level of income as, unfortunately, too often they just can't afford to have their own computers. But if they do have computers, I guess they use the Internet quite a lot. First of all, they do it for staying in contact with their relatives and friends either by sending and getting emails or by visiting social networks. They also surf the net for getting news, looking for information they need, watching films and sometimes even for buying products and banking online. So, yeah, altogether quite a lot.
2. What do you think are the pros and cons of shopping online? 你认为网上购物有哪些好处和坏处?
Well, online shopping is really advantageous, to my mind. It lets people do shopping without too much of effort comparing prices with a click of a mouse, getting access to products they can't buy locally and shopping anytime and anywhere either in the comfort and privacy of their home or office or literally on the go. As far as disadvantages are concerned, doing shopping online customers can't get an item straight away after paying for it. don't have a chance to try clothes on and can't compare the fit of the clothes the choosing from.
3. Is the Internet important for education? 互联网对教育重要吗?
Definitely it is. First of all, it makes education accessible to impoverished communities, which gives hope for their better future. What is more, it provides instant availability of vast stores of information on virtually any subject in real time, allows instantaneous connection to classmates and teachers and lets students communicate with their international peers gaining from their knowledge and experience. So, I am more than sure that it's very important for doing away with illiteracy and getting profound education nowadays.
4. What do you do on the Internet? 你用互联网做什么?
Well, it would be easier for me to say what I don't do on the Internet. I guess I do everything or almost everything online. I search for information I need, do online shopping, download films and music, read news, check weather, book hotels and tickets, check in at the airport and even communicate with friends and partners. I also read a lot of content, catch new ideas and learn from the advice of highly successful people.
5. Do you think parents should supervise their children when the children use the Internet?
Most likely, yes. Children are too naive and can get into different difficult situations and even serious financial disasters. So, parents should keep an eye on what kids do online in order to prevent the young ones from offering too much personal information and avoid unpleasant surprises. I think it's also quite important for parents to be aware of the files children are downloading not to let viruses and Trojans inside the computer and be able to discover any problems at their earliest inception.
6. What's the best age for children to use the Internet? 儿童使用互联网的最佳年龄是几岁?
Well, I guess any age starting from 3 as long as kids use the Internet for educational reasons and with parents' supervision. If there is no parents' or adults' supervision, then only when children are mature enough, aware of the risks of surfing the net and able to think critically or when they've shown repeatedly to make the right choices while using the Internet.
7. Why do children nowadays start using the Internet very early? 为什么如今的儿童过早地使用互联网?
Oh, I guess, first of all, because many parents support kids' early exposure to the Internet by providing them with opportunities to explore and study online. They understand that the Internet provides a wide range of opportunities for children's learning, participation, creativity and communication with others, and do their best to involve their kids in online activities as early as kids have special skills for that. One more reason why little ones start surfing the net early enough is because they treat it as a source of entertainment providing them with a chance to watch cartoons, video clips and play games online.
