President Xi Jinping called for more efforts to uphold and improve the system of regional ethnic autonomy, promote ethnic unity so that all ethnic groups could be together "like seeds of a pomegranate". Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during an inspection tour to north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region last month.
