President Xi Jinping has sent a message to Project Hope as the public welfare program marks its 30th anniversary this year. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, stressed efforts to continue developing the program tasked with improving basic education infrastructure and helping dropout children return to school in poor areas.

【知识点】

希望工程是共青团中央、中国青少年发展基金会于1989年发起实施的，以改善贫困地区基础教育设施、救助贫困地区失学少年重返校园为使命的社会公益事业。截至2019年9月，全国希望工程已累计接受捐款152.29亿元，资助家庭经济困难学生599.42万名，援建希望小学20195所。进入新世纪，特别是国家全面实施“两免一补”政策后，希望工程将资助对象扩大到高中、职业教育和高等教育阶段的学生，拓展了救助模式。

党的十九大以来，希望工程聚焦教育扶贫，积极参与脱贫攻坚，将“三区三州”等重点扶贫地区的建档立卡贫困家庭学生作为主要资助对象。据了解，为让每个孩子都能享有公平而有质量的教育，下一步希望工程将继续积极资助10万名建档立卡贫困家庭学生完成学业，以实际行动助力脱贫攻坚，为决胜全面建成小康社会担负时代使命。
