overdo it 意思是过分了，过头了

they wouldn’t dare ： they won’t risk it 他们不敢做什么

e.g. <1>The mayor decided to side with the workers in the strike.

在这次罢工潮中，市长决定偏向工人这边。

<2>If the judge sides with me, I win the case!

如果法官偏向我的话，我的官司赢定了。
