你说得一点没错。

hit the nail on the head 字面意思是：“敲钉子的钉帽”，木工敲钉子时，正敲在它扁平的顶上，才能钉得恰到好处。这个短语引申而来的意思是“恰到好处，正中要害，一针见血”。因此，当美国人说"You hit the nail on the head!"时，他/她要表达的意思就是:"You hit the point!"、"You are right about this!"。
