诚实总是上策。
Honesty is the best policy 直译过来就是：“诚实是最佳政策”，其实policy在此并不是“政策”的意思，而应该当“原则”来讲。这个俚语的意思是：“诚为上策，诚实是最佳的处世原则”。因此，当美国人说"Honesty is the best policy."时，他/她要表达的意思就是:"Honesty must come first."、"Honesty is the most important rule."、"To be honest is of great importance."。
