　　Political science is a social science discipline concerned with the study of the state, nation, government, and politics and policies of government. Aristotle defined it as the study of the state.It deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics, and the analysis of political systems, political behavior, and political culture.

　　政治学是一门以研究政治行为、政治体制以及政治相关领域为主的社会科学学科。在西方，政治学在学术领域里的研究也被称为政治研究、政治科学、或只有政治两字。政治学意味着在学术上的研究领域，政治研究则代表了更广泛的研究领域。

　　2.Comparative politics：比较政治学

　　Comparative politics is a field and a method used in political science, characterized by an empirical approach based on the comparative method. In other words comparative politics is the study of the domestic politics, political institutions, and conflicts of countries. It often involves comparisons among countries and through time within single countries, emphasizing key patterns of similarity and difference.

　　比较政治学是政治学的一个分支学科。是利用比较的方法研究政治现象的一门学科，一般分为作为方法论的比较政治学和作为理论知识的比较政治学。亚里士多德的《政治学》可视为比较政治学研究的开创之作。近代的比较政治研究发展于文艺复兴和启蒙运动之后，比如托克维尔的《论美国的民主》和《旧制度与大革命》。以后马克斯·韦伯、孔德、涂尔干等的社会科学方法对比较政治学之研究有很大影响。但比较政治学作为一门学科之形成，是到了第二次世界大战以后，代表性的著作有杜瓦杰(Maurice Duverger)的《政党论》，阿尔蒙德(Gabriel A. Almond)、维巴(Sidney Verba)的《公民文化：五个国家的政治态度和民主制》等。

　　3.Politicization：政治化

　　A politicized issue or hot-button issue is a social, economic, theological, spiritual, scientific or legal issue which has become a political issue, as a result of deliberate action or otherwise, whereby people become politically active over that issue.

　　政治化，是一个人类社会中的多元问题，任何参与者基于人权，能以社会热门话题及社会问题等作切入点，向管治权力施压，以取得政府关注及回应。例如政客、政党等，会利用很多社会、经济、环境、文化等问题引出相关的政治议题在公开的政治场合(如立法会)讨论，并向政府施压或抗争，作为争取选民支持的有效政治本钱。
