Franklin'S GOOD DEEDS

Franklin could count by twos and tie his shoes. He liked to help his parents and he liked to help the neighbours too. But one day, Franklin wanted everyone to know just how helpful he was.

Mister Groundhog had a farm, Eee-Eye-Eee-Eye-O! And on that farm he had some carrots. Eee-Eye-Eee-Eye-O! With a crunch, crunch here, and a crunch, crunch there, here a crunch, there a crunch, everywhere a crunch, crunch! Mister Groundhog had a farm, Eee-Eye-Eee-Eye-Ooooooo!

Mr GROUNDHOG:what a time for my confounded bunion to flare up. Right in the middle of harvest season! Ooooo that’s tender.

BEAVER: Don’t worry Mister Groundhog, we’ll get the job done.

GOOSE: Yeah, I’m glad to help.

RACCOON:Me too!

FRANKLIN: Yeah, I like helping. Whew… Picking pumpkins is hard work.

Mr GROUNDHOG: Aren’t you glad they don’t grow on trees.

FRANKLIN: Whoa!…I wouldn’t want to stand under a pumpkin tree. That could be dangerous!

Mr. GROUNDHOG:Well, I think it’ time we took a break. What do you say?

Sure./Yeah./Okay.

当然。 /好

FRANKLIN: I can’t stop working now. There’s just one pumpkin left!

Mr GROUNDHOG:I haven’t seen that much get-up-and-go since Mrs. Muskrat sat on her pincushion.

REPORTER: Aha! There it is!

Mr GROUNDHOG:There is what?!

REPORTER:Tomorrow’s front page news story. Farmer Injured Putting Best Foot Forward.

Huh?

REPORTER: News story my foot !

Mr. GROUNDHOG :I’ll tell you the real news story.

REPORTER: Do you kids mind moving out of the picture? I’ve got the story to cover here and I’m in a bit of hurry.

Mr GROUNDHOG:Grrrr-dash it all. These kids ARE the story! They’ve been here all day helping me the harvest! I don’t know what I would have done if they hadn’t come along.

BEAVER: It was my idea.

REPORTER: Hmmm…Is that a fact…Can I get your names?

BEAVER:I’ m Beaver.

GOOSE: My name is Goose.

RACCOON:I’m Raccoon.

RACCOON: That’s spelled with two C’s.

Mr GROUNDHOG: You are missing one of my helpers. He should be here shortly. Franklin! Hurry up!

FRANKLIN:I’m hurrying - as fast as - I can.

REPORTER: I’m afraid I haven’t got a lot of time here folks. I have a deadline to meet for tomorrow’s paper. Could I just get you to pose around these pumpkins over here? Great, Great. Now show me some front page smiles

BEAVER:Mom and Dad will be so proud of me.

REPORTER: Okay, hold it there and…

BEAVER: Can you believe it? We’re on the front page!

GOOSE: And they called us “harvest hero”

We are famous!

FRANKLIN : Why did I have to get that last pumpkin?

BEAVER: Don’t worry. The story says you helped out too.

FRANKLIN: It does? Where?

BEAVER: Right there?

FRANKLIN:“A Child named Frank helped out also.” Frank? They called me Frank?

RACCOON: Maybe they didn’t have room for your whole name.

FRANKLIN: But nobody will know it’s me.

BEAVER: Don’t worry Franklin. We know it’s you.

GOOSE: And we know how hard you worked.

RACCOON: So does Mr. Groundhog.

FRANKLIN: But I want everyone to know

GOOSE: Maybe you’ll get your picture in the newspaper next time.

FRANKLIN: When will that be?

RACCOON: Maybe the next time you do a good deed, Franklin。You never know

FRANKLIN:Yeah…Maybe the next time I do a good deed/

REPORTER: That’s quite a donation

Mrs. GOOSE:Yes,it’s because of outstanding individuals like Mrs. Skunt that we have such a fine library.

REPORTER: Mrs. Skunt, an outstanding individual .Good, good. The readers will love this story. Now if I could just get the two of you to pose right next to the books.

FRANKLIN: I thought I should clean this window! It looked really dirty!

Mrs. GOOSE:Oh, thank you Franklin.

REPORTER: Mrs.Skunk, do you mind holding up one of the books?

Mrs.Skunk:Not at all.

REPORTER: Ahhh, that’s better. And…smile! That’s it. Thanks for the story.

Mrs. GOOSE:My pleasure.

Mrs. GOOSE: You’ve done a terrific job Franklin. I haven’t seen my window sparkle like this in a long time.

FRANKLIN: Where’s the newspaper reporter?

Mrs. GOOSE: He just left.

FRANKLIN: He did?! There he is. I’ve gotta’ go. See you later Mrs. Goose.

Mrs. GOOSE: Oh, goodbye Franklin.

Mr. Fox: Most folks couldn’t remember the last time they heard the bell ring. It’d been years. Hmmm, is that a fact? So I decided it was high time to fix it…High time? Get it?

REPORTER: Oh, yeah

Mr. FOX:You might want to put that in your article.

REPORTER: And so how did you fix it?

Mr. FOX: It was rusty and needed a lube job in the worst way, so I completely took apart the main gear assembly.

FRANKLIN: Hi, Mr. Fox. I’m raking up the leaves around the town hall.

Mr. FOX: Thanks Franklin.

REPORTER: Well, that sounds like a big job.

FRANKLIN: Oh, it is! But I like helping out!

REPORTER: Actually, I was talking about taking apart the main gear assembly.

FRANKLIN:…Oh.

Mr. FOX: It was a big job alright, but I love tinkering with anything mechanical, so I actually enjoyed it.

REPORTER: I’d like to get a picture of you and the clock together, if that’s possible.

Mr. FOX: Certainly. Of the two of us, the clock has the prettier face

Mr. FOX: You might want to put that in your article

FRANKLIN: What about me?

REPORTER: Okay, let’s have a big smile. Looks like this is going to have to be a low angle shot to get that clock in the picture. Ah! That’s better.

FRANKLIN: What do I have to do to get in the newspaper, land on Mars?! Hey…look! Somebody’s wallet. Mr. Beaver’s wallet…It’s good thing I found it. It’s a very good thing I found it. This will get my picture in the paper for sure! Yahooooo!

Mr. Mole:Hello there, little fellow. Lovely day isn’t it?

FRANKLIN: Sorry, Mr. Mole. I guess I wasn’t paying attention.

Mr. Mole:Well, that makes two of us then. So what’s your hurry?

FRANKLIN: I’m going to Mr. Beaver’s house to give his wallet. I found it on the path.

Mr. Mole:I’m sure he’ll be very happy to get that back.

FRANKLIN: Yes, he sure will! Gee, you’ve had quite a snack.

Mr. Mole:Oh, those aren’t mine. Whenever I come out here for a walk, I pick up any litter

I see on the ground.

FRANKLIN: You should pick it up where everyone will notice you.

Mr. Mole:Oh?

FRANKLIN: If everybody could see you, then they’d know you’re doing something good.

Mr. Mole:Oh, I don’t really care about that.

FRANKLIN: You don’t?

Mr. Mole:No. Doing something for others just gives me a nice feeling inside. That’s why I do it

FRANKLIN: Really…Hmmmm

FRANKLIN: Hello

Mr. BEAVER:Oh…I just don’t know where it could be.

BEAVER: We’ve gone back over the path three times

Mr. BEAVER:I’m afraid there’s no place else to look

BEAVER: What are you going to do?

Mr. BEAVER:I’ll phone the police station and report that it’s lost.

Mr. BEAVER:Maybe someone will turn it in

BEAVER: Look Dad! There it is!

Mr. BEAVER:My goodness! I can hardly believe my eyes

BEAVER:I wonder who found it?

Mr. BEAVER:Hmmm. I do too. There’s no note or anything.

BEAVER: Gee Dad, how are you ever going to thank them?

Mr. BEAVER:I don’t know…I’ll write a thank-you letter in the newspaper, that’s what I’ll do. I may not know who returned this, but there’s one thoughtful person in this neighbourhood who does.

FRANKLIN: Hello Mr. Mole.

Mr. Mole:Well, it looks like I have a helper.

FRANKLIN: I thought you might like some company.

Mr. Mole: Mr. Beaver must have been very happy to get his wallet back.

FRANKLIN: Oh, um…yes!

Mr. Mole: That was certainly a very good deed you did, Franklin

FRANKLIN: Uh Mr. Mole……

Mr. Mole: Yes?

FRANKLIN: That special feeling you were talking about…Does it happen right here?

Mr. Mole:Well, yes I believe it does. Why?

FRANKLIN: I think I might have it.

Mr. Mole:I’m not surprised.
