　　1.在某些动词后可用现在分词构成复合宾语:

　　At this moment she noticed Paul coming in.

　　这时她看到保罗走了进来。

　　He watched us eating.

　　他瞧着我们吃饭。

　　She caught him smoking a cigarette.

　　她撞见他在抽烟。

　　She doesn't like me living here.

　　她不喜欢我住在这里。

　　The smoke started her coughing.

　　烟使他咳嗽起来。

　　He hates people asking him for money.

　　他讨厌别人向他要钱。

　　I found him working in the garden.

　　我发现他在花园里干活。

　　I don't remember father saying anything like that.

　　我不记得父亲说过这样的话。

　　2.这类句子也可用于被动结构(斜体部分可说是复合谓语)：

　　She was seen chatting with someone at the door.

　　有人看见她在门边和人聊天。

　　Voices were heard calling for help.

　　有人听见求救声。

　　One of the kids was reported missing.

　　据报导有一个孩子失踪了。

　　They were found all living in one room.

　　人们发现他们所有的人都住在一间屋里。

　　3.还有一些动词后面可以跟由过去分词构成的复合宾语(这类句子用于被动结构时很少):

　　We'll get you X-rayed.

　　我们要让你去透视。

　　I've just had a photograph taken.

　　我刚照了一张像。

　　Yon should always make yourself understood.

　　你应经常让人了解你的意思。

　　He felt himself compelled to take action.

　　他感到自己不得不采取行动。

　　They acknowledged themselves(to be)defeated.

　　他们承认自己被击败。

　　I don't want anything said against her.

　　我不愿意有人说她的坏话。
