第十四章 介词 介词短语的作用

　　1.介词短语在句中主要用作：

　　(1)状语：

　　He goes home at 5:00.

　　他五点回家。

　　Anna came out of the door.

　　安娜从门里走了出来。

　　There is an Italian restaurant behind the bank.

　　银行后面有一家意大利餐馆。

　　(2)定语：

　　Most of the products on display are new ones.

　　展出的产品大多是新产品。

　　They are watching the News on TV.

　　他们正在看电视新闻。

　　Then a lady in black came forward.

　　这时一位穿黑衣裳的女郎走向前来。

　　(3)表语：

　　He was in his early twenties.

　　他二十一二岁。

　　She is of middle height.

　　她中等身材。

　　It was against the law.

　　这是违法的。

　　2.介词短语有时可以用来构成复合宾语：

　　He always considers himself in the right.

　　他总是认为自己正确。

　　We found the map out of date.

　　我们发现地图已经过时了。

　　He thought it beneath him to do such a thing.

　　他认为自己不屑于做这种事。

　　3.在很多情况下介词和形容词或过去分词构成习惯用语：

　　be afraid of 害怕

　　be fond of 喜炊

　　be capable of 能够

　　be ashamed of 为……感到羞愧

　　be interested in 对……有兴趣

　　be used to 习惯于

　　be keen on 热衷于(某事)

　　be prepared for 为……做好准备

　　be adsorbed in 聚精会神

　　be pleased with 对……感到高兴

　　4.介词也可构成成语动词：

　　dream of 梦见

　　object to 反对

　　long for 渴望

　　persist in 坚持(干某事)

　　attend to 处理，照顾

　　insist on 坚持(某……)

　　rely on 依靠

　　consist of 包括

　　believe in 信仰，相信有

　　occur to 突然想起

　　look forward to 盼望

　　look out for 提防

　　live up to 按照……行事

　　look down upon 看不起
