第十四章 介词 among 和around 的用法

　　1. among:

　　1) 在……中间：

　　The town lies among the mountains.

　　这座市镇位于群山之中。

　　There was discontent among workers.

　　工人中间有小满情绪。

　　Divide the cake among the four of you.

　　这块蛋糕你们四个人分。

　　2)是……中间的一(几)个：

　　He was among the first to arrive.

　　他是第一批来的人。

　　Shelley is among the world’s greatest poets.

　　雪莱是世界上最伟大的诗人之一。

　　These are among his most important works.

　　这些是他最重要作品的一部分。

　　3)若干人)相互间：

　　The members were divided among themselves.

　　成员间意见有分歧。

　　China stands for equality among all nation, big or small.

　　中国主张大小国家一律平等。

　　3)(若干人)共同：

　　The three men had $300 among them.

　　这三付人共有300 美元。

　　Among them，they collected over a hundred pounds.

　　他们共同筹集了一百多英镑。

　　4) among有时也用amongst这个形式：

　　The rood was distributed amongst the poor.

　　这批食品在穷人间分配了。

　　2. around:

　　1) 在……周围，环绕：

　　We all drew up closely around him.

　　我们都紧紧站到他周围。

　　They sat in a circle around their teacher.

　　他们围着老师坐成一圈。

　　2) 在……范围内：

　　Let's walk around the exhibition.

　　咱们在展览会到处看看。

　　Let me show you around the town.

　　我带你到城里逛逛。

　　3)在拐角处：

　　The supermarket is around the corner.

　　超级市场在拐角处。

　　How far is it from here? -Just around the corner.

　　离这儿远吗? ―拐弯就到。

　　4)绕过，克服：

　　Let's go around the town，not through it.

　　咱们从城旁绕过去，而不是从城里穿过去。
