第十四章 介词 of 的用法

　　1. of:

　　1)的(表示所属关系)：

　　It's the custom of the country.

　　这是这个国家的习俗。

　　Have you got the complete works of Shakespeare?

　　你有没有莎士比亚全集?

　　What's your date of birth?

　　你出生日期是哪一天?

　　2) of 表示特征(作表语或定语)：

　　We’re of the same opinion.

　　我们的意见是一致的。

　　Your help is of great value to us.

　　你的帮助对我们很有价值。

　　Birds of a feather flock together.

　　物以类聚。(谚)

　　3)和表示数量的词连用：

　　The four of us went on working.

　　我们四个人继续干。

　　I’m going to get a packet of cigarettes.

　　我去买一包烟。

　　We’ve got plenty of work to do.

　　我们有很多工作要做。

　　4) of 用在带先行词 it 的句子中，表示谈某人的情况：

　　It’s good of you to take the trouble.

　　你费这事我非常感谢。

　　It’s nice of you to think of us.

　　难为你想到我们。

　　It’s careless of you to forget to lock the door.

　　你忘了锁门，太粗心了。

　　5)(和动词连用)表示想到、谈到等：

　　I often think of our days together.

　　我常常想到我们在一起的日子。

　　They began to talk of their home town.

　　他们开始谈起他们的家乡。

　　I read of it in a magazine.

　　我是在一本杂志上读到这事的。

　　6)(of 和一形容词连用)表示对……的某种情绪：

　　She's very fond of sports.

　　她酷爱运动。

　　He was sick of the city.

　　他讨厌那座城市。

　　There's nothing to be afraid of.

　　没有什么可怕的。

　　6)(of 和一形容词连用)表示对……的某种情绪：

　　It's just waste of money.

　　这完全是浪费金钱。

　　I hope this will be productive of results.

　　我希望这能产生结果。

　　7)还可用于某些成语:

　　of course 当然

　　of clock=o’clock ……点钟
