第十八章 宾语 直接引语和间接引语(2)

　　1 .在引用一个疑问句时，除了注意人称、状语等的变更和时态的一致之外，还要注意把引语中的语序变为陈述句的语序，也就是要把主语放在谓语前面：

　　The secretary asked , " What's your occupation ? "

　　The secretary asked what my occupation was .

　　秘书问我是什么职业。

　　He asked , " Where are you to get off , John ? "

　　He asked John where he was to get off .

　　他问约翰什么地方下车。

　　这种引语前连词that 是永远也不能用的。如果引的是个一般问句、选择问句或反意问句，在引语前要用连词whether 或if :

　　He asked , " Are you sure your mother will come ? "

　　He asked whether ( if ) 1 was sure my mother would come .

　　他问我是不是能肯定我妈会来。

　　He asked , " Are you a teacher or a student ? "

　　He asked me whether I was a teacher or a student .

　　他问我是老师还是同学。

　　2 .在引述一个祈使句时，我们通常用一个简单句，这个请求或命令由一个复合宾语表示出来：

　　He said , " Please come again tomorrow . "

　　He asked me to go there again the next day .

　　他要我第二天再去。

　　He said , " Don t do that again . "

　　He told me not to do that again .

　　他让我以后再不要这样做。

　　He said , " Get everything ready in two hours . "

　　He ordered ( told ) us to get everything ready in two hours .

　　他命令我们在两小时内把一切准备好。

　　在这种句子中用什么作谓语，要根据所引句子的口气来决定。

　　3 .惊叹句以间接引语的形式引述的时候是比较少的。如果这样引用，要设法传出原来句子表达的情绪：

　　"What a lovely garden!

　　He remarked with admiration that it was such a lovely garden .

　　他赞叹这花园是多么可爱。

　　但这一点是不易做到的。用直接引语反而能更好地传出原来的情绪。
