第十九章 定语 定语从句（1）

　　1 .定语从句一般由关系代词(a )或关系副词(b )引起：

　　(谚)Laura was a woman whom she knew .劳拉是她认识的一个女子。

　　It was an island whose name I have forgotten . 它是一座小岛，它的名字我忘了。

　　There is a road which goes through the island . 有一条公路贯穿这个岛。

　　He is the man that I Served .这就是我接待的那个人。

　　b . must find some place where I can sleep tonight . 我必须找到一个我奖晚能睡觉的地方。

　　There were many days when we ate only one meal . 有好多天我们一天只吃一顿饭。

　　The reason why I became a teacher is that I like children . 我当老师的原因是我喜欢孩子。

　　2 .在很多情况「(特别是它在从句中作宾语时)，关系代词常被省略：

　　You are just the sort of person we need .你正是我们需的那种人。

　　This is the brand we like .这是我们喜欢的牌子。

　　Here are Some jobs we could apply for.这儿有一些我们能申请的工作。

　　Come and see the new shirt I bought.来瞧我买的一件新衬衫。

　　I'm sorry , there is nothing we could do.抱歉，我们没有什么办法。

　　Who came? Anyone I know ?谁来了?是我认识的人吗?

　　All you have to do is send a painting to them.你只需寄张画去就行了。

　　This is the hotel we stayed in .这就是我们住的那家旅馆。

　　有时，在个别名词后，可跟一个定语从句：

　　You mean there is a chance I'll get the job ? 你的意思是我还有机会得到这份工作?

　　Come to see us next time you come to town. 下次进城时来看看我们。

　　The moment he said it , she regretted it.她刚一说就后悔了。

　　That's the reason I did it .这就是我这样的做的原因。

　　That's the way , I look at it .这是我对这事的看法。
