Disinterested /dɪs'ɪnt(ə)rɪstɪd/ is also an adjective. Its noun form is disinterest. Disinterested means not taking sides or impartial. It is usually used to describe a person with no personal benefit at stake.

Disinterested也是一个形容词,它的名词形式是disinterest。Disinterested意为不偏袒任何一方或不偏不倚。它通常用来描述与个人利益无关。

我们正在努力为陪审团确定12名公正无私的人。

公正

The referee was not disinterested in the outcome of the match.

裁判在比赛的结果上并不公正。

(The referee had a personal interest in one particular side winning.)

比赛中某一方的输赢与裁判个人有利益关系。

我们通常会因为

dis-与un-

同时都为否定前缀

而混淆了这两个词,

而实际上这两个词意思完全不同。

uninterested是

不感兴趣的;不关心的;淡漠的

disinterested是

公正的,无私的,不偏袒的
