A study of the University of Cambridge revealed that the age of true puberty is not complete at the age of 18, the human brain reaches real maturity only in the third decade of age to leave childhood and enter the adult world.

Even though the law deems a person an adult when they turn 18, the brain doesn't mature until 30 at the earliest.
