She too had poetry at her command, knew wordsthat sang and were spells and beat drums.

她的心里也有诗，知道一些能够歌唱的话句，是符咒，是鼓点。

"Kiss me"; she closed her eyes, she let her voice sinkto a sleepy murmur, "Kiss me till I'm in a coma.Hug me, honey, snuggly ..."

“吻我吧。”她闭上了眼睛，声音降成了睡意朦脓的呢喃，“吻得我昏过去吧，拥抱我吧，亲亲，温柔地……”

The Savage caught her by the wrists, tore her hands from his shoulders, thrust her roughlyaway at arm's length.

野蛮人抓住她的手腕，从肩上甩开了她的双臂，粗野地把她推到几尺以外。

"Ow, you're hurting me, you're ... oh!" She was suddenly silent. Terror had made her forget thepain.

“啊，你弄疼我了。你……哦!”她突然不做声了，恐怖已让她忘记了疼痛。

Opening her eyes, she had seen his face—no, not his face, a ferocious stranger's, pale,distorted, twitching with some insane, inexplicable fury.

她睁开眼睛，看见了他的面孔——不，那不是他的面孔，而是一张陌生人的凶狠的面孔。苍白，扭曲，由于某种疯狂的。难以解释的狂怒抽搐着。

Aghast, "But what is it, John?" she whispered.

她惊呆了。“你怎么啦，约翰?”她低声说。

He did not answer, but only stared into her face with those mad eyes.

他没有回答。只用那双疯狂的眼睛盯住她的脸。

The hands that held her wrists were trembling.

他那握住她手腕的手在发抖。

He breathed deeply and irregularly. Faint almost to imperceptibility, but appalling,

他不规则地深深地喘着气。声音微弱，几乎听不见，却很可怕。

she suddenly heard the gneding of his teeth. "What is it?" she almost screamed.

她突然听见他在咬牙。“怎么回事了?”她几乎尖叫起来。

And as though awakened by her cry he caught her by the shoulders and shook her.

他仿佛被她的叫声惊醒，抓住她的双肩摇晃着她。

"Whore!" he shouted "Whore! Impudent strumpet!"

“婊子!”他大叫，“不要脸的婊子!”

"Oh, don't, do-on't," she protested in a voice made grotesquely tremulous by his shaking.

“啊，别，别。”被他一摇晃，她的声音奇怪地颤抖着，抗议道。

Whore!

婊子!

Plea-ease.

可别——那么讲。

Damned whore!

婊子!

"A gra-amme is be-etter ..." she began.

“一克唆麻胜过……”她开始了。

The Savage pushed her away with such force that she staggered and fell.

野蛮人猛然一推，她一个趔趄，摔倒了。

"Go," he shouted, standing over her menacingly, "get out of my sight or I'll kill you." Heclenched his fists.

“滚吧!”他咄咄逼人地俯瞰着她，叫道：“别叫我看见你，否则我杀掉你。”他捏紧了拳头。

Lenina raised her arm to cover her face. "No, please don't, John ..."

列宁娜举起胳臂，想挡住脸：“别，求你别，约翰……”

Hurry up. Quick!
