第十五章 新假牙
I know that you'll be happy with your new dentures.They look very natural.
我想你会喜欢你的新假牙的，看起来像真的一样，
They look like your natural teeth.
就像你原来的真牙一样。
Your facial expression may be a little different for acouple of weeks.
你脸部表情可能有几个星期会有些不同，
After they're worn for a while the muscles of the lips and cheeks will become adjusted, and anatural facial expression will return，
等到安上假牙之后不久，嘴唇和脸颊的肌肉经过调整之后又会恢复自然的表情。
They look good, Doctor, but I'm worried about talking and eating.
医生，看来还不错，但是，我还是对于说话语吃东西感到担心。
You can accustom yourself to speaking with them by reading aloud when you're at home alone.Speak slowly and pronounce each word very carefully. Eat soft foods until the tender gumsheal.
当你单独在家时，你可以大声朗读使你能够适应戴着假牙说话，说话要慢，小心每一个词的发音，吃软的东西直到受伤的牙龈长好为止。
Should I take any special care when eating food?
吃东西时，我要不要特别小心?
When you bite a piece of food, press the food against the upper teeth. At the same time, breakthe food off with a twisting motion of the hand. This will hold the dentures in place. Take smallbites of food and chew slowly and thoroughly.
当你咬一块食物时，要把食物向上排牙齿，同时用手的扭转动作把食物撕开，这样就可以把假牙保持在原来的位置上，吃的食物要小块的吃，要咬得慢嚼得透彻。
Should I wear the denture all of the time?
要不要一直戴着假牙?
At first wear the denture at all times, except when you clean them.
开始，除了取下来刷洗之外，要一直戴着假牙。
Wearing them all the time helps to shorten the adjustment period. If they become toouncomfortable, please telephone me for an adjustment appointment.
一直戴着有助于缩短调整的时间，要是感到不舒服请来电话告诉我，预约一下，以便进行调整。
Are there other adjustments I may need?

Artificial dentures must be kept clean to keep their beauty and to preserve the health of yourmouth.

How should I clean them?
我该怎么清洗假牙呢?
A denture brush with a denture cleanser is the best way.
用戴由假牙清洗剂的假牙刷子来刷假牙是最好的办法，
A denture brush has bristles that are stiffer than those in an ordinary toothbrush.
假牙刷子的毛比普通牙刷的毛要硬一些。
Is ordinary soap alright to use when cleaning the denture?
可以用普通的肥皂刷洗假牙吗?
Ordinary soap can also be used to brush them clean. Clean them once a day.
用普通的肥皂也可以把假牙刷干净，一天刷洗一次。
If you're not wearing your dentures, be sure to keep them in a cup of water, so they won'tbecome too dry.
假牙不戴时候，一定要把假牙放在一杯水中，这样就不会变得太干。
If they're dry for a long time they may bend (warp) and lose their good fit. You mustremember.
如果干的时间太长就会弯曲，就会变得不适合，这些你可要记住。
Is there anything else I should remember, Doctor?
医生，还有什么要记住的?
Yes. You must remember that your mouth tissues (gums) are always changing.
有，你该记住口腔组织(牙龈)总是在变化的。
These changes might cause a loosening of your dentures.It may be necessary to rebuild orrebase your dentures.
这些变化会使得你假牙松动，这样就需要重新做假牙或给假牙垫底。
It's impossible to determine (predict) how soon or how often the rebuilding or rebasing willhave to be done.
不可能决定(或预言)多快或每隔多长时间要重做或垫底。
Each patient is different. Everyone who wears dentures should go to his dentist for regularcheckups, so that necessary corrections and adjustments can be made. Loose, ill-fitting, orimproperly cared for (unclean) dentures can cause severe damage to mouth tissues，I'mpleased with my denture, Doctor. Thank you very much.
