Many got to know her for playing brainy Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies. Now, after more than a decade, Emma Watson continues to shine as a successful actress.

In spite of growing up in the UK, Watson is able to speak in a US accent when she needs to. When she was a child, she often sang along to US music on the radio. Later, when Watson started her acting career, she hired an expert to help with her US accent. “I worked with a dialogue coach and I just put in the time to really, really listen and just go over it and over it and over it until I could do it without thinking about it too hard,” she told The New York Times.

Watson’s hard work won her many roles in Hollywood. “Her accent in the movie The Bling Ring, from what I heard, is flawless,” US dialect expert Erik Singer told The Observer. “It’s a very specific accent, of course – what you might call young female LA.”

Yet, as a famous actress, Watson faces many challenges, especially from being followed by paparazzi. But being in showbiz for years, the star has learned to keep her private life to herself. “I want to be consistent: I can’t talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home. You can’t have it both ways,” she told Vanity Fair.

This is perhaps why the 28-year-old actress was cool with being photographed on a date with Brendan Wallace, a US tech company CEO, in October. Just as she once told The New York Times, looking on the bright side is an important attitude if you want to succeed. “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” Watson said.
