There's been an allegation from a French prosecutor that the Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz deliberately flew the plane into a mountainside. German media also reported that the pilot suffered from severe depression, had undergone psychiatric treatment and had a sicknote covering the day of the crash.
How in-service pilots are been screened for mental instability has gone under intense scrutiny.
