Topic1 Old-Age Care for Single-Child Families

China will explore a new method to share the responsibility of elderly care for single-child families as it seeks to tackle the swelling senior population, according to a Health News report.

In attempt to ease the high pressure faced by the single-child generation, the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) will launch a pilot program that seeks to pool trained personnel who can provide community health services.

Nursing, health care, companion and first-aid services will be provided with a priority for single-child families with financial difficulties and bed-bound seniors.

Do we have a big problem of old-age care for people with single children?

Topic2 Special classrooms for outstanding students

Students at Central China Normal University have recently found that two self-study rooms that used to open for everybody now are only available for top notch students.

Why does the university do this?

Topic3 Chinese more rational toward Olympic golds: survey

An online survey conducted by the newspaper China Youth Daily has found Chinese are less fanatical about Olympic gold medals, with nearly 95 percent of respondents saying it would be OK for China to get fewer golds or fall in the medal tally during future Olympic Games.

What does the survey tell us? Are people's attitudes changing?

Topic4 Unrecognizable Writing

It is a common problem in China or even around the world that doctors' writings are Greek to its patients.

So is it a good thing that Ningbo hospitals start to fix the problem?

Topic5 Is a child's intelligence inherited primarily from his or her mother?

Apparently, how smart you are is inherited. And we get it from our moms.

Many in China are pondering this statement after a short Sina Weibo article went viral. It asserts that a mother's genetic makeup had three times as much influence in determining a child's intelligence as a father's.

Is it true?
