1.关系副词 when
关系副词when在所引导的定语从句中作时间状语，先行词通常是表示时间的名词或代词。
I am looking forward to the day when my daughter can read this boo-k and know my feelings for her.
我期待着有一天，我的女儿能读懂这本书，并能理解我对她的感情。
The days when they traveled together meant a lot to him.
2.关系副词where
关系副词 where 在所引导的定语从句中作地点状语，先行词通常是表示地点的名词或代词。有一些虽然不是表示地点的名词或代词，而是跟介词in搭配的一些名词 ，用来表示在某种情形或情况时如situation, stage, case, condition, point等，也用关系副词where引导。
The accident had reached a point where both their parents are to be called in. 事情发展到如此程度，不得不请双方家长来一趟了。
After graduation she reached a point in her career where she had to accept the challenge of life.
They will fly to Washington, where they plan to stay two or three days. 他们要乘飞机去华盛顿，在那里他计划要再待两一天。
3.关系副词why
关系副词why在所引导的定语从句中作原因状语 先行词通常是reason,可换成for which。
The reason why /for which her brother is fired is that he is often late for work.
4.关系副词that与先行词 way
that可以作关系副词，只是在几个较为特殊的情况下才用。way作为行词时，表示用某种方法与介词in搭配，如 in this way,在定语从句中用in which,而 in which可用关系副词that代替，由于此时的that在所引导的句中不作主语 ，所以又可省掉 ，那么就会有三个答案：in which,that或省掉。
The way (that/in which)he solved the problem is simple and effective.
他解决这个问题的方法简单而有效。
What surprised me was not what he said but the way (in which/that)he said it. 使我吃惊的不是他说的什么是他说话的方式。
