Yoo Yoo-dong, chairman of the Korea Policy Committee, made the announcement at a press conference after the National Assembly and the government held a meeting on the prevention of dog meat and the improvement of animal health care.

Yoo said, In order to solve the problem of eating dog meat as soon as possible, we will enact a special law to ban dog meat within this year. "Once the special law is enacted, dog farms, slaughtering and distribution companies and restaurants must submit plans to local authorities to ban dog meat," he added.
