The UN warns clashes in Sudan have sparked the largest displacement crisis in the world.

On January 4th local time, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs released a report stating that since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Sudan, over 7.3 million people have been displaced, with children accounting for about half. Sudan currently has the largest number of displaced persons in the world and is also the country with the most severe child displacement.

In the past month, the number of displaced persons in central Sudan has increased by approximately 500000 due to the ongoing fighting in and around Jezra Oblast.
