在观看沙滩排球比赛的过程中，经常可以看到选手把双手放在背后做出一些手势，这究竟有什么用呢?因为沙滩排球场地较小，且只有两人，所以彼此的沟通非常重要，但又不能让对方知道自己的意图，这时候队员们就会和队友以手势进行交流。通常情况下，队员们手势的意思是这样的：紧握拳头代表我不拦网，左手手势代表拦对方2号位的路线，右手手势代表拦对方4号位的路线，伸出一个指头代表拦直线，而伸出两个手指则代表拦斜线。可能有些手势为了保密，会有所不同，但基本大意不过如此。

Two fingers pointed downward means a line block on both attacks. So if they serve either player the blocker is going to cover the line attack and the back defender covers the cross court attack.
