WATCHING THE TIDAL BORE FROM SOUTHERN HILL

The sky with water blends,
天水碧，
The river dyed in autumn hue extends.
染就一江秋色。
Snow-crowned hills and dragons rise from the deep;
鳌戴雪山龙起蛰，
Swift wind blows the sea up like a wall steep.
快风吹海立。
Blue dots seem to drip from mist-veiled hills,
数点烟鬟青滴，
The rainbow clouds redden the sky like grills.
一杼霞绡红湿。
Far away white birds mingle with sails white,
白鸟明边帆影直，
Beyond the stream we hear a flute at night.
隔江闻夜笛。
