本·琼生（Ben Jonson，1572-1637），英国文艺复兴时期的重要文人、剧作家、诗人和评论家，被认为是英国文学史上第一位职业作家。他博览群书、才艺过人，是英国实际上的第一位“桂冠诗人”。他的诗歌作品种类繁多，有警句、挽歌、贺诗、抒情诗等。他的诗作具有古典主义典雅、优美的语言风格。讲究形式的工整与韵律的圆润。抒情短诗语言清新自然，简洁而明快。《给西丽亚》是他最脍炙人口的一首。

只须用你的眼睛向我祝饮，

Drink to me only with thine eyes,

我就把我的眼睛回报；

And I will pledge with mine;

或者只须在杯口留下你一吻，

Or leave a kiss but in the cup,

我就不再把美酒寻找。

And I'll not look for wine.

要求痛饮一种神圣的酒浆——

The thirst that from the soul doth rise

Doth ask a drink divine :

But might I of Jove's nectar sup,
