丁尼生（Alfred Tennyson，1809-1892），英国维多利亚时期重要诗人。早年的诗大多清新、自然，积极向上。大学好友哈莱姆的不幸早逝对丁尼生的心灵造成永久的创伤。经过17年的构思，他创作出《悼念集》，誉满全国。他常思考生死关系，怀恋过去，感叹现存的人世，作品具有一种哲理深度和深沉而忧郁的感伤情调，表现出维多利亚时期人们的精神风貌，体现出这个时期人们的怀疑、思考、迷惑与忧虑。在诗艺方面，他的诗形式完美，辞藻华丽，韵律整齐，同时又有丰富的想象，才力很高。
