Travel, Tour and Trip 三个(表示旅行的)近义词
Li: Hello! 大家好,我是杨莉,我知道很多听友都喜欢你问我答节目,因为我们回答的所
有语法和词汇问题都来自听众朋友。今天的问题来自中国的 Justin.

My name is Justin. I’m from Beijing. I have a question about the three words: travel, trip
and tour. So I have a confusion about the three words.
Li: Justin 想知道三个近义词的区别 travel, tour 还有trip. 这三个词都和旅行相关。今
天我邀请了BBC常驻教师, William Kremer. Hi William, welcome to the
programme!
William: Hi Li. It’s a pleasure as always to be here.
Li: So, travel, tour and trip. Can you explain, William?
William: I can, but let’s start by going through… this door.
Li: 嗯?… 那扇门里有什么?
William: It’s our old friend the BBC FX cupboard.
Li: 音响效果设备。 Oh William, are you sure? 你真想打开那玩意儿?上次我就被你折
腾苦了…
William: So Li, I thought we could begin our answer for Justin right here on a cruise
ship on the river Nile.
Li: 啊,美丽的尼罗河!和煦的春风,迷人的风景 – 那可是我一直向往的旅游胜地!
William: Do you enjoy travel?
Li: Yes, I love travel. I just wish I could travel more.
William: So I used travel there in a general sense, to mean going on long journeys,
maybe going abroad.
Li: William 解释说, travel 这个词泛指长途旅行,包括出国旅行,是个名词,不过,这
个词也可以作动词来用, William 你说对不对?
William: That’s right Li. We are travelling along the Nile by boat. But we don’t use
the verb to travel that often. We are more likely to say ‘to go travelling’.
Li: Ah, 我们经常使用动词短语, to go travelling. 它和 travel 的含义一样吗,
William?
William: Almost. If we say ‘go travelling’, that implies that we are going to lots of
different places in an informal sort of way. So in the UK lots of students go
travelling in their holidays. They go to lots of different countries and it’s
often a spontaneous and a cheap way of seeing the world.
Li: 我来解释一下,动词短语 to go travelling 指不固定的,走访多地的旅行,往往是即
兴的 spontaneous, 既新鲜又便宜。不过我到更喜欢呆到在一个地点的那种休闲假
日,那样可以彻底放松。 I don’t normally go travelling in my holidays.
William: Where is the best place you’ve ever been to Li?
Li: Well, why don’t I just take you there now?
William: Ah, the Great Wall of China! Now this really is an amazing place.
Li: I couldn’t let us finish our tour of the world without coming here.
William: Now you’ve just used the word tour, Li. If you go on a tour, you see
several different places and it’s usually quite carefully planned.
Li: 是的,现在我来解释另一个短语 to go on a tour, 指有计划,有固定路线的旅行。
现在中国各地有很多旅行社组织所谓的一揽子旅游,也就是我们常说的旅行团…
William: Ah yes, we call that a package tour.
Li: A package tour 跟团旅行。

Tour guide: 女士们,先生们请看这里。长城是人类历史上的建筑壮举,它全长有8,851 公里。其中
70% 都是用石头垒造的围墙,其余部分包括自然防御的河流和山岗以及人造护城河和沟渠…
Li: 哎呀,不论走到哪里,总有这些吵闹的旅行团,导游操着大喇叭叫喊不停,令人不得安
宁。
William: We call that a guided tour. It’s a guided tour of the great wall.

Tour guide: …最早的长城建造工程是公元前5世纪开始的,不过这段长城是明朝期间建造的,1987
年被世界教科文组织定为世界文化遗产。
Li: William, 我建议你改日再来,或许会安静一些,现在我们还是做点别的吧。
William: Well, how about a shopping trip, Li?
Li: A shopping trip! As always William, you have come up with the perfect
plan.
William: Welcome to an authentic souk, a market in Morocco.
Li: So you said “a shopping trip”. But is the word trip always used for
shopping, William?
William: No, it just means a journey to a place. So we can say “a trip to Morocco” or
“a trip to India”. But trip can also imply a short journey or a journey for a
particular reason. So for example we can talk about a trip to the shops or a
shopping trip. Or a trip to the beach.
Li: Or a day trip.
William: Exactly, a day trip is a trip that takes one day. So another similar word is
an outing.
Li: A day trip 意思是一日游,也就是一次 outing.
Salesman: Hey, pretty lady. Do you want to buy a necklace?
Li: 你看你看,多么漂亮的项链!
Salesman: I’ll give you a very nice price. Very cheap. It’s a very good quality
necklace.
Li: Shall I get it? What do you think William?
Salesman: Here is a special deal for you lady. I’ll give you the necklace if you answer
my test. Are you ready?
Li: Yes, yes I’m ready.
Salesman: Ok, question one. What can we call a journey to different places which is
carefully planned?
Li: A journey to different places… We would call that a tour. A tour.
Salesman: That’s right. And if you pay a company to organise the tour?
Li: That’s a package tour.
Salesman: Correct. What about a verb meaning to see lots of places, and maybe stay
in cheap hotels?
William: We can say, to go travelling.
Salesman: Very very good! Last question and the lady gets a necklace. What is
another word for a day trip?
Li: An outing. An outing means 一日游。
Salesman: Well done!
Li: So do I get my necklace now? Do I? Do I? Can I have my necklace? Can I?
Can I get my necklace?
William, 为什么每次你打开音响设备盒子,我们最后总要在热带丛林里收场呢?
William: Sorry Li. Jungle noises just seem to be the default setting. Justin, I do
hope that we have answered your question today. Remember if you’re
listening and you have a question, you can reach us at
questions.chinaelt@bbc.co.uk.
Both: Bye!
Salesman: Bye.
