      在不久的未来，医学得到了极大的发展。如果你有器官衰竭或者是病变，你根本不需要等待捐赠者捐赠器官，也不需要使用从转基因的动物身上取下的器官，你只需要付出一笔钱，就可以获得一个人造器官——当然，器官和手术的费用并不低廉，不过主攻这笔生意的联邦公司（The Union）给你想出了一个极佳的解决方法——分期付款。可是联邦公司的老板并不是什么慈善家，只要有病人无法支付账单了，他们就会派出自己公司的器官回收员去那些病人身上取回自己的产品。没有理由、没有借口，有的只是一枪毙命和取回器官的“制度”。这也让很多移植了人造器官的普通人每天都生活在恐惧之中。 　　

      雷米（裘德·洛）受雇于联邦公司，他是公司中身手最为矫健，也是前途最不可限量的器官回收员。可是有一次，在取回人造器官的工作中，由于一场突发事故，雷米没能完成工作。当他醒来的时候，他发现自己的胸腔中植入了联邦公司最新也是最顶级的人造心脏。被迫使用人造器官的雷米面临着高额的使用费。公司承诺，当他痊愈之后，还可以回去工作，可是他却发现自从装上这颗新的心脏之后，他再也没办法用手术刀割开人类的身体取出器官，也就是说他再也无法做回收员了。由于他无法偿还这笔费用，联邦公司派出了自己最冷酷无情的回收员杰克（福里斯特·惠特克）去追杀雷米，杰克曾经是雷米的搭档，从小和他一起长大，身手也十分了得。 　　

      雷米从猎手变成了猎物，从强权人物变成了弱势群体，他能用自己精湛的功夫和精准的枪法逃出重围获得新生么？
