Jane与Mary约好一起下棋，两人都曾在学校获过奖，正好棋逢对手，两人对此都很期待。

J: Hi, Mary, are you free this evening?
M：Yes. What for, Jane?
J: Shall we have a game of chess?
M: Can you play chess? I never knew it before.
J: Yes. Are you interested in it?
M: Yes, I am. I learned to play it when I was at high school. Do you like playing chess?
J: Yes. I think playing it in the long run will make you an acute man.
M: I agree with you. Do you play it well?
J: Once I won a prize in my university.
M: So did I. My prize was for the best player in the university.
J: Oh, it will be very exciting for us to meet our match, won't it?
M: Yeah. Let's play chess this evening.

1.it中的/t/在爆破音/b/前失去爆破，/t/不发音。
2.此处应用双降调。
3.注意acute/əˈkju:t/(敏锐的)和cute/ˈkju:t/(可爱的)读音的区别。
4.“下象棋”，此处chess前不需加定冠词the。

1.带有yes和no的简略回答要用双降调，如：
J：Are you interested in it?
你有兴趣吗?
M：Yes↘, I am↘.
是的，有兴趣。
2.主语在前、从句在后的句子也可用双降调，语气肯定，如：
I learned to play it↘ when I was at high school↘.
我高中的时候就学象棋了。
3.对提问把握很大的反意疑问句要用双降调，如：
It will be very exciting for us to meet our match↘, won't it↘?
我们棋逢对手一定会很有意思的，不是吗?
