291. I had an experience some years ago which taught me something about the ways in which people make a bad situation worse by blaming themselves.

点睛 本句的主干是I had an experience...。第一个which引导的定语从句which taught me...blaming themselves修饰experience;该从句中又包含另一个由介词短语in+which引导的定语从句修饰ways,介词短语by blaming themselves则充当其方式状语。

They blamed the rise in oil prices for the big increase in inflation.

I scolded my son for having left the door open.

The chief doctor was accused of professional misconduct.

All of his friends condemned him for his bad conduct.

Grace reproached her husband for having forgotten her birthday.
