All the thing I had packed so carefully were soon in a dreadful mess. I felt sure I would never be able to close the case again. Suddenly, I saw the Officer's face light up.

  10. All the thing I had packed so carefully were soon in a dreadful mess.

  dreadful ['dredful]

  adj.

I cannot imagine what to do in this dreadful situation.

  mess [mes]

See how your cat has messed up my ball of wool.

  语言点:句子结构分析:本句中的all the things为先行词,其后的定语从句必须由that引导,即(that)I had packed so carefully;不用which,that可以省去。

  11. I felt sure I would never be able to close the case again.

  12. Suddenly, I saw the Officer's face light up.
