184 content用法难点
① content作形容词，读音为［kən'tent］，意为“满足的，满意的”，只用作表语，不可作定语。结构为：
feel content
content+to do sth.
content with sth.
He is content to live here. 他住在这里很满足。
She seemed content with the explanations. 她似乎对解释很满意。
② content作及物动词，读音为［kən'tent］，意为“使……满足/满意”。结构为：content sb. with sth.。
He contented himself with living there with his grand children. 他同孙辈住在那里很满意。
She is easily contented. 她知足。
提示
contented既可以是过去分词，又可以是形容词，作形容词时，contented可作表语，也可作定语；可以说be contented with sth.，但不能说be contented to do sth.。
He is the most contented man I have ever met. 他是我遇见过的最易满足的人。（不可用content）
He felt contented with the present job. 他对眼下的工作感到满意。（可用content）
③ content作名词，读音为［'kɒntent］，表示“内容（与“形式”相对，为不可数名词）；容量，含量，目录，所容纳的东西（为可数名词）”。
I like the style of the book but I don't like the content. 我喜欢这本书的风格，但不喜欢这本书的内容。（content不可加s）
She knew by heart the contents of the letter. 她记着这封信的内容。
