① most作形容词，表示“大多数的，大部分的”，用作定语，后跟复数名词，指一般的或泛指的人或物，这时，most前不可用定冠词the。

The most people like to watch TV.

② most作名词，表示“大多数，大部分”，表示特指的人或物。结构为：

most of+代词宾格

most of+限定词+名词（限定词可以是定冠词、指示代词或形容词性物主代词）

作名词用的most可以表示单数，也可以表示复数，取决于of后的名词。另外，这种用法的most前不可加the。
