第三周：星期一　Talking about Work 谈工作

A：Joe, you say you're not happy in the job you have now?

B：Yes. I need a job that is interesting and challenging, but at the moment I'm doing the same thing day after day.

A：Perhaps you need to change. Have you ever thought about working somewhere else?

B：Well, no. It's not that. I like it here. It's just my job, what I do seems so boring, so repetitive.

A：I see. I think I understand how you feel. I'm glad you told me. But you've got to realize, Joe, we can't do exciting work all the time.

A：乔，你说你对现在的工作很不满意?

B：是的。我需要一份有趣并有挑战性的工作，可现在我日复一日地干着同样的事。

A：也许你需要改变一下。你有想过去别的地方工作吗?

B：啊，不，不是那样的。我喜欢这个地方。只是工作的内容似乎太令人厌烦、太重复了。

A：Hi, glad to meet you.

B：Glad to meet you, too.

A：So whom do you work for?

B：NEC.

A：They're in the communication business, aren't they?

B：That's right. I'm the secretary to the General Manager. What about you?

A：I work for IBM.

B：So, you're in computers?

A：Yes, I'm a Product Manager.

B：What are you working on at the moment?

A：I can't give you details, because it's confidential. But I'm developing a new product for the Chinese market.

A：嗨，见到你很高兴。

B：见到你也很高兴。

A：你在哪儿工作呢?

B：NEC。

A：它们经营通信业务，是吗?

B：是的。我是总经理秘书。你呢?

A：我在IBM工作。

B：那么你是从事计算机工作?

A：Are you still at that work?

B：Yes. I'm still working there. But I really find my job boring. I'd like to change my job.

A：What sort of job do you have in mind?

B：I think I'm quite fit for driving.

A：But it's very tiring.

B：I don't care.

A：What's your parents'opinion?

B：I haven't told them. Maybe I'll let them know after the vacation.

A：你还在那里工作吗?

B：是的。我还在那里工作。不过我觉得我的工作真的非常无聊。我想换份工作。

A：你想找份什么样的工作?

B：我想我适合做司机。

A：但那很累的。

B：我不在乎。

A：你父母有什么意见?

A：I'm thinking about changing my job.

B：Why? Don't you enjoy your job?

A：Not at all!

B：What makes you think like that?

A：I think I ought to try a new-type of job.

B：Do you have any idea?

A：Not yet, what's your opinion?

B：How about being a teacher?

A：Sounds good. But I'd like to enjoy my vacation first.

A：我在考虑换份工作。

B：为什么?你不喜欢你的工作吗?

A：不是!

B：那么你考虑换工作的原因是什么呢?

A：我想我应该尝试一种新的工作。

B：你有确定的想法了吗?

A：还没有，你有什么意见?

B：老师怎么样?

A：What do you do now?

B：I'm out of work at the moment.

A：Why?

B：I was fired last week.

A：I'm sorry to hear that.

B：It doesn't matter.

A：What's your plan now?

B：After the vacation I have, I'll go and find a new job.

A：Best wishes for you.

B：Thank you.

A：你现在做什么工作?

B：我现在失业了。

A：为什么?

B：上周我被解雇了。

A：听到这个消息我很难过。

B：没关系。
