Well, Lucy uses a spatula to put the eggs onto a plate - to take them out of the pan and onto a plate. 露西用铲子把鸡蛋盛到盘子里，就是把鸡蛋从锅里放到盘子上。

A spatula, "spatula," is a utensil; it's something you use in the kitchen. 铲子(spatula)是一种厨房用的器具。

It is flat, usually square, that has a handle on it 铲子是平而且方的，还带了把手。

and you can use it to go underneath the food in a frying pan to lift the food out of the pan. 你可以用铲子铲起煎锅里的食物，盛出来。

"Some mornings," Lucy says, she has "to settle for some cold cereal or just toast with jam." 露西说“有时候早上”她“只能吃冷麦片和果酱夹吐司凑合一下”。

The expression to settle for, "settle," for something means that you don't necessarily want that thing - it's not the best thing, the thing you want the most, but it's okay - it's acceptable. “凑合一下”(settle)意思是有个东西并不是你非常想要的，不是最好的，也不是最想要的，但是还行，可以接受，最终你接受了这个东西。

When someone said, "I - I'm settled for something," they mean they weren't completely happy but it was okay - it was good enough for them. 有人说“我就拿某个东西凑合一下吧”，可能对于这个东西他们不是非常满意，但是还可以接受，他们觉得足够好了。

This is what my wife tells me; she says, "Jeff, I settled for you." 我妻子经常对我说这样的话。她说“杰夫，我跟你凑合过吧”。
