Lucy says when she gets close to her stop, she presses "the button to signal to the driver that" she needs "to get off." 露西说，快到她下车那一站时，她按下“按钮，向司机示意”她要“下车”。

To signal, "signal," means to indicate - to tell the driver that she needs to get off. 示意(signal)，意味着表明——告诉司机，她需要下车。

In many American buses, there's a button or sometimes there's a string that you pull, and it makes a noise in the front of the bus, and that allows the bus driver to know that you want to get off. 许多美国公共汽车都有一个按钮，或者有时是一根用来拉的绳子，它可以在公共汽车的前部发出声音，让司机知道你想下车。

It tells the bus driver that you want to get off at the next stop. 它告诉司机你想在下一站下车。

To pull up (two words) means to drive up - to go to. 停到(pull up)意思是开车赶到——去到。

We use that verb especially when we are talking about cars or buses. 谈论汽车或公共汽车时，我们会用到这个动词。
