Got Well

One day a boy came to his teacher and said，“Teacher, my father wants to know if you like roast pig.”

“I certainly do”, said the teacher, “and you tell your father he is very kind to think of me.”

Days passed, and nothing more was said about the roast pig.

Finally the teacher said to the boy，“I thought your father was going to send me over some roast pig.”

“Yes,” said the boy, “he did intend to, but the pig got well.”

又没病了

一天有个男孩去对他老师说：“老师，我爸想知道你是不是爱吃烤猪肉。”

“当然啰，”老师说，“去告诉你父亲，多谢他想着我。”

好几天过去了，再没提起烤猪肉的事儿。

最后老师对男孩说：“我以为你父亲要给我送点烤猪肉来呢。”

“是啊，”孩子说，“他是这么想的，可后来猪又没病了。”

词汇讲解】

1.roast烤制的。roast还可以作动词，有“烤”的意思：The sun was roasting us.太阳火辣辣地炙烤着我们。还可以指“嘲讽”：They roasted his new book.他们狠狠地挖苦他的新书。

2.think of想起。Will you think of me after I’ve left?我离开之后，你还会记得我吗?还可以指“对…有看法”：They all thought of her as a nice girl.他们都认为她是个好女孩。Dick thinks of himself as a genius in literature.迪克自以为是个文学天才。还有“考虑”的意思：He’s thinking of studying abroad.他在考虑出国学习。

3.“nothing more was said about the roast pig”烤猪肉的事情没有再被提起，也就是说那个男孩再没跟老师说起有关烤肉的事情。

4.send over发送，派遣. They sent him over to the police. 他们将他遣送警察局。 We'll send the new books over to you next week. 我们下个星期会把新书给你送去的。
